Your Captain: Trish Baily Serendipity’s Captain has been living and working on boats worldwide for nearly 25 years and has captained charter vessels in the British Virgin Islands since 1988.

Raised in Tasmania, Australia Trish has always had a close association with the sea but did not become involved with sailing until she began working on boats in  the Mediterranean in the late 70’s.  She spent most of the 80’s cruising extensively in the Atlantic with her partner.  On board their double ended wooden Caroll Ketch they explored Spain and Portugal, the west coast of Africa and the coasts of South America from Venezuela to Argentina.  Many of her adventures were written up in the Australia cruising magazine – “Cruising Helmsman”.

Trish has worked in the charter industry in the British Virgin Islands from the late 80’s.  Serendipity has been  in her care since 1993 when Trish took over as the Captain and manager of  the vessel. 

As a long time charter boat operator in the BVI Trish has gained a huge amount of knowledge of the islands and has been very involved in environmental work.   Her background in Geography and Sociology and her extensive traveling have assisted her in her efforts as an environmentalist. She was the founding member of Association of Reef Keepers (ARK) and two other environmental NGO’s in the BVI.  In 1998 she introduced Reef Check to the BVI and has been the Reef Check coordinator since then. Serendipity’s owner and friends come annually to the boat to assist  the BVI in the annual Reef Check monitoring of the health of the coral reefs.  The BVI is one of over 80 countries involved in this programme.

Trish’s extensive knowledge and interest in the islands, their coral reef systems and marine environment as a whole  helps to add an extra dimension to your charter.

Trish also enjoys cooking and those who charter with her enjoy the home baked bread,  and the well stocked cupboard with spices to make your meals on board fun and easy to prepare- an added bonus to your captain only charter.

Ocean Yacht Master ( cruising)1V Australian Yachting Federation.
STCW/95 basic safety training.
